Books and Authors
Below is a list of Authors whos books I have enjoyed reading and publishers of comics and translated manga that I read. It will be updated as I find new, entertaining authors. It will be mostly fantasy, as that is my main interest at the moment. Happy reading!
Authors (Mostly Alphabetical)
- J.K. Rowling:
Creater of the magical world of Harry Potter. JKR's site is filled with fun surprises (if you poke around enough). JKR personally updates the site (and she has a wonderful sense of humor).
- C.S. Lewis : Friend of Tolkien and writer of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Screwtape Letter, and many more books.
- Patricia Bray:
While probably best known for her romances (or not, I don't read romance novels so wouldn't know how well known she is in that circle) she has recently written a highly entertaining fantasy trilogy.
- Trudi Canavan:
Author of the highly entertaining Black Magician Trilogy.
- Susanna Clarke:
Author of the bestselling book, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, she now has a book of short stories out set in the same universe.
- Lynn Flewelling:
Lynn Flewellings books were some of the first I started reading when I first got into Fantasy fiction and remains one of my favorite authors.
- NobleDead.com:
The works of Barb and JC Hendee. The Hendees have a wonderfully entertaining series featuring Magiere (Dhampire and Vampire Hunter), Leesil (her half-elven companion), and Chap (a big blue dog who's more than he seems).
- R.A. Salvatore:
Creator of Drizzt, the good drow of The Forgotten Realms.
- J.R.R. Tolkien:
Tolkien created a wonderful world of Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, and Hobbits. This is not the official Tolkien Estate website, but rather, the publisher's Tolkien page.
- Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman:
They've done so many collaborations, it didn't seem right to separate them ^_^. Their series include Dragonlance (see below), the Sovereign Stone Trilogy, and the Deathgate Cycle. They've also pursued separate projects.
- Dragonlance:
Based on the advanced D&D series of the same name and originally started by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Publishers (Alphabetical)
- Avatar Press:
New home for Classic and Medieval Lady Death, as well as the SG-1 team, Freddie Kruger and more. The only title I do read from Avatar is Medieval Lady Death.
- Dabel Brothers:
Recently purchased by Marvel, DB has many interesting projects in the works including comic versions of some fantasy books such as George Martin's The Hedge Knight and Raymond Feist's Magician: Apprentice.
- Del Rey Manga:
Del Rey has a few manga titles. Though I'm currently only ready Tsubasa and xxxHolic by CLAMP.
- Devil's Due:
Publisher of comics based on such classics as G.I. Joe and Transformers as well as Capcom games Street Fighter and Darkstalkers. They also have the rights to Dungeons and Dragons titles including Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance.
- Ice Kunion:
A publisher specializing in Korean comics. I'm currently reading Angel Diary and Legend.
- Marvel:
Home of the X-Men, Spiderman, Captian America, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four and other "Marvel"ous new and classic superheros.
- Tokyopop:
The company that revolutionized translated manga sales in the US. Some of the current titles I'm reading: Fruits Basket, and Rebirth
- Viz:
One of the older distributers of translated manga, Viz holds some popular titles such as: Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Fushigi Yuuki, and Hana Yori Dango. Although, the only one I'm actually reading is Full Metal Alchemist ^_^.
