Music
I love music. While reading, surfing the net, working, or just lazing around, I'll always have music on in the background if possible. Here's what I'm listening to (in alphabetical order).
- Adiemus:
I'm really not too crazy about the most recent album, but the earlier albums (especially the first) are gems.
- Amethystium:
Created by a Swedish composer; reminiscent of Delerium
- Dead Can Dance / Lisa Gerrard:
Lisa Gerrard began in Dead Can Dance with Brendan Perry. She later went solo, but still works with DCD. Her music has a very 'gothic' feel to it.
- Delerium:
Created by Bill Leeb. Poem and Karma are my favorite albums.
- Enya:
The first "New Age" artists I started listening to. Beautiful voice and beautiful music.
- FictionJunction.com: The music of Yuki Kajiura. She first caught my ear with the soundtrack of .hack//SIGN and remains my favorite Japanese composer. I just wish more of her music would be released in the States.
- Hans Zimmer:
Currently my favorite Western soundtrack composer. His credits include The Lion King, Gladiator, King Author, among many others.
- Harry Gregson-Williams:
Another soundtrack composer, my favorites being Kingdom of Heaven and The Chornicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe .
- Mediaeval Baebes:
These ladies sing a mix of traditional and original music, borrowing from the Medieval/Renaissance styles; some more closely than others. Even if you don't like real Medieval/Renaissance music, give them a try (of course, I actually like those styles, so maybe I'm not the best person to give that advice ^_^).
- Moya Brennan:
Sister of Enya and the 'Voice of Clannad'. Moya has a bit of a different style from Enya, but it's still very nice (though, I personally prefer Enya's voice).
- Secret Garden:
A wonderful mixture of classical, celtic, and whatever they feel like.
- Sleepthief:
With a sound reminiscent of Delerium, Sleepthief was created by a full-time attorney (Justin Elswick).
- My Launch Cast Station:
Featuring the music of: Secret Garden, Enya, Dead Can Dance, Delerium, Capercallie, Loreena McKennitt and others.
